Our Story

During the turbulent, scary and tragic year of the global pandemic our young founder, like many, came to find herself living back at her childhood home after almost a decade of living and trying to forge a career in the hubbub of London.

She was forced to walk away from the fast paced dynamics of city life and working with well known brands across luxury publications, fashion and sustainability; for the slower paced countryside life of her childhood and lockdowns. It was an opportunity that allowed her to reengage with her community, refocus on what brings her joy and in time, led to the birth of LoLa.

Stepping out of the high-flying, stiletto-tottering London life, has ironically managed to bring our Founder full circle back to her roots in more ways than just returning to her childhood home. LoLa reconnects her to the heritage of her Grandparents and Great-Grandparents of owning local Green Grocer, Florist and Garden Centre businesses.

So with the knowledge and understanding gathered in her city experience for luxury and sustainability, intertwined with her re-found love for her local community the two came together bringing a new desire and idea to merge these to bring you LoLa.

City life was certainly exciting and came with many benefits - convenience and accessibility to late opening stores, endless delivery options and variety of choice. Meanwhile it was clear that under lockdown local stores were struggling to reach customers and customers finding harder to access their local stores as easily. If only there was a way to converge the accessibility she had become accustomed to with the rediscovered joy of buying produce from the array of incredible local businesses supplying fresh, delicious, seasonal food that outshone supermarket quality in taste and colour by a country mile. And thus, LoLa.

Food and drink certainly became one of our main indulgences and comfort during the never-ending feeling of lockdown, but as we see a light at the end of that very dark tunnel, and our lives become busier again, LoLa offers a way to maintain that connection amidst the hustle and bustle of life after lockdown. We want to keep local people connected to their local businesses as we all start to increase the pace of life again together.
